"American Fiction" is a 2023 satirical comedy-drama film. Thelonious "Monk" Ellison, a frustrated Black novelist, decides to write a ridiculously stereotypical "Black" book under a pen name. He aims to expose the publishing industry's exploitation of these tropes. Ironically, the book becomes a huge success, forcing Monk to grapple with his own role in the situation. The film stars Jeffrey Wright and was directed by Cord Jefferson.
